Ha Giang – The Heaven of Vietnam Mountainous Area

Ha Giang is a mountainous province of the Northeastern of Vietnam, which contains Vietnam’s northernmost point. The province shares an over-270-kilometers border with China with the border gate called Thanh Thuy.

Ha Giang is considered one of the poorest provinces in Vietnam where a various minority community inhabited. In recent years, the infrastructure of Ha Giang has seen a great improvement in order to develop the province’s economy, especially to enhance tourism. Ha Giang has large areas of green tea, apart from wonderful rice fields. Ha Giang tea with its most famous Shan Tuyet tea is not only popular in domestic market but also in many foreign markets.

Dong Van Karst Plateau

Appeared in the UNESCO heritage list as the Global Network of Geoparks, Dong Van Karst Plateau is a must-visit destination in Ha Giang. The highland has its height about 1400 – 1600 meters above sea level forming mainly by limestone and the ancients’ creatures fossils. This place is also recognized as a diverse mountainous geo-ecosystem with numerous distinctive floral species and faunas. Dong Van rocky highland is the home of 17 ethnic communities with unique traditional features.

Quan Ba Twin Mountain 

Quan Ba Twin Mountain has located about 40 km from Ha Giang town, in the zone of Quan Ba District. The twin mountain looks like two cherries from a distance and it is really a masterpiece of Mother Nature. This mountain also associates with a touching legend that is told by local people generation to generation.

Ma Pi Leng Pass

Ma Pi Leng Pass is a mountain pass which belongs to Ha Giang Province. This pass is well known for its dangerous but wonderful 20-kilometers road at the altitude of over 1500m over the sea level. Over the past, there is a path called “Happiness Road”, which connects Ha Giang, Dong Van, and Meo Vac was constructed from the 1960s by the workers who almost are the H’Mong people. Ma Pi Leng Pass is truly a cannot-be-denied attraction in a Ha Giang travel.

Vuong Family (H’ mong King’s Palace)

Vuong family’s Maison is located in Xa Phin Village, around 25 km from the center of Dong Van District. The edifice is a rare historical site which is the witness of Vietnam architecture dated back to the Nguyen Dynasty (1804 - 1839) in Ha Giang. Vuong’s edifice consists of 10 smaller houses made of rare wood in giant sizes and roofed with double tiles. Surrounding the structure are rocky walls that are 60-100 centimeters thick and 3 meters high and many lush green trees. It has been classified as a national relic from 1993 and now has become a must-see destination when traveling to Ha Giang.

Khau Vai Love Market

Khau Vai Love Market is a local market takes place in Khau Vai Commune, MeoVac District. It is a unique event in the culture of the local in particular and Vietnam in general. The love market is the traditional fair of Ha Giang’s minorities including H’Mong, Dao, Tay, Nung,… In this activity, the locals not only purchase colorful costumes and handicrafts, but they also come to look for real love in their lifetime. A visit to this unique market will be a fascinating chance for those who would like to understand the special customs of Vietnamese ethnics in Ha Giang.

Nho Que River

Nho Que River is not-too-long river flows from Nghiem Son Mount at over 1500m high above the sea level. This is around 46 km long, with the upstream stretching more than 5km in the shared border between Vietnam and China, and the rest flows through two Vietnam’s provinces are Ha Giang and Cao Bang. Running through rocks, the stream created a wonderful waterfall in the middle of the valley. Discover Nho Que River to have a stunning view of majestic nature here.

Nam Dan Ancient Rock Field

Nam Dan Rock Field is situated in Tay Dan Mount and Nam Dan Hill, close to the Nam Khoong Stream, which is 1400m above the sea level. The rock field has a large square of nearly 15 hectares, with 8 ancient carved relics, 2 old stones and a number of strange-shaped boulders.

This area was discovered in 2004 by experts of Ha Giang’s Institute of Archaeology and museum. According to scientists, this relic is the typical archaeology dating to about 2000 years ago and very rare in Vietnam.
